The SFPUC and CleanPowerSF

CleanPowerSF will be administered by clean energy experts at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), the City’s water, sewer and municipal power utility.

The SFPUC already generates approximately 20% of the City’s energy needs through renewable resources like solar power and hydropower that produce zero greenhouse gas emissions. The SFPUC also provides the pristine water delivered by gravity to your tap and award-winning sewage treatment that protects our local waterways.

The SFPUC

The Hetch Hetchy Water & Power system delivers an average of 1.7 billion kilowatt hours of 100% clean, greenhouse gas-free electricity annually to the City and County of San Francisco, the Modesto and Turlock Irrigation Districts and tenants of the San Francisco International Airport.

“CleanPowerSF’s goal of 51% renewable energy by 2017 far exceeds the state’s minimum requirements.”
