If you are already a CleanPowerSF customer on our default Green service, you can upgrade to SuperGreen, our 100% renewable energy service, in less than five minutes online at cleanpowersf.org/supergreen. You just need your CleanPowerSF/PG&E bill. If you want to upgrade over the phone, call us at 415-554-0773.

CleanPowerSF customers currently on our B-1 rate can expect to pay about $7 more per month for our SuperGreen service. For the average customer on our B-10 rate, it is about $70 more per month.

Upgrading to our SuperGreen service does not include a fee. After you upgrade, your account will be charged the SuperGreen rate on your next electricity bill. Similarly, if a customer would like to change back to our Green service, there is no penalty or fee. A customer can change their service/rate at any time by contacting CleanPowerSF Customer Service at: (415) 554-0773.

The City’s 100% Renewable Electricity for Commercial Buildings Ordinance requires commercial buildings in San Francisco 50,000 square feet and over to obtain all electricity from 100% renewable sources by 2030. Ordinance 229-19 from Chapter 30 of the San Francisco Environment Code was approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2019. The San Francisco Environment Department oversees compliance and enforcement of the 100% Renewable Electricity for Commercial Buildings Ordinance.

San Francisco aims to achieve zero greenhouse-gas emissions from large buildings by 2035. Approximately 9% of commercial buildings in the City are larger than 50,000 square feet and account for 73% of commercial building electricity use.

The deadline is based on the size of the buildings.
If your building is 500,000 square feet or greater, you must have received 100% renewable electricity as of December 31, 2022.
If your building is 250,000 square feet or greater, you must receive 100% renewable electricity by December 31, 2024.
If your building is 50,000 square feet or greater, you must receive 100% renewable electricity by December 31, 2030.
