With cold winter weather and recent PG&E rate increases, we know that many customers are experiencing higher electricity bills right now. We’re here to help you.
There are a variety of programs that may be able to help you lower your bill:
The California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) Program offers a monthly 20% or more discount on electricity and gas to qualifying customers.
The Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) program is an 18% discount on electricity for households that qualify and have 3 or more people.
To learn more about CARE or FERA, visit pge.com/carefera or call PG&E at (800) 743-2273
The Medical Baseline program allows qualifying customers to use more energy at a lower rate to power certain medical devices. Examples of qualifying medical devices include a motorized wheelchair or scooter, a respirator, or a CPAP machine.
Budget Billing allows you to pay equal monthly payments on your energy costs year-round by averaging your monthly energy costs.
If you get behind on bills, one of these programs may be able to help you get back on track:
Relief for Energy Assistance through Community Help (REACH) is a program that can help customers with low incomes pay for energy during a crisis or hardship, like having a past due balance, receiving a power disconnection notice, or even after having their power disconnected. The program can provide an energy credit of up to $1,000 per year for qualifying customers.
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) offers a one-time bill credit per year to help with energy bills and to prevent utility shutoffs. To find out if you qualify and enroll in LIHEAP, call Peninsula Energy Services at (415) 416-6660 or apply online.
If you need extra time to pay your bill or would like to start a payment plan, you can contact PG&E, at 1-800-743-000 or visit pge.com/helpmepay. PG&E is responsible for electricity billing for CleanPowerSF customers.
We are always here to help, too. If you have questions about your bill or would like to know more about these discount programs, call CleanPowerSF at (415) 554-0773 or email cleanpowersf@sfwater.org
