This program is open to CleanPowerSF food business customers in San Francisco with one year of billing history.

The Business Savings Program gives contractors, who once enrolled are called Aggregators, cash incentives based on energy savings. Aggregators receive incentives when they install new, efficient equipment or control technologies for eligible CleanPowerSF food business customers. These customers save energy and lower their operating costs. Aggregators make the upgrades and handle the project paperwork and permits.

The CleanPowerSF Business Savings Program serves a wide range of efficiency measures including, but not limited to: lighting, HVAC, water heating, building envelope, refrigeration, and controls-based technologies, such as sensors and automation. The Program is open to many types of energy efficiency measures and business models. Fuel switching measures, Solar PV, energy storage, and other electricity generation are not eligible for Program incentives.

After making energy efficiency upgrades, a customer’s energy costs typically decrease by 5% or more. Savings depend on installed equipment. Contractors who are enrolled in the Program, called Aggregators, will find the best energy-saving solution for your business. Aggregators get cash incentives based on actual customer energy savings, so the more they save customers, the more they earn.

An Aggregator is a contractor who has signed up with CleanPowerSF and is a licensed professional who finds energy savings solutions for food business customers. Aggregators provide energy-saving solutions to commercial clients, including installation, permitting, and documentation.

CleanPowerSF chose food businesses as the first business type for the Business Savings Program because they are vital to San Francisco’s economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic and to help them manage costs. Other business types may be considered for Program participation in the future.
