Peak Day Partners Overview

Thank you for your interest in Peak Day Partners! Read more about the program, who is eligible, and how it works.

The Program

Peak Day Partners rewards businesses for reducing electricity between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. on certain days of the year.

Specifically, Peak Day Partners provides a financial incentive to CleanPowerSF customers if they successfully reduce their electricity use between 4 - 9 p.m. on “Event Days.” Event Days occur on very hot days when California’s electric grid is strained. CleanPowerSF will call 6 - 12 Event Days during the program season, which runs July 1 - October 31.

The program does not include any penalties if your account is enrolled and you are not able to reduce electricity use during an Event Day.

Eligibility

To participate in Peak Day Partners, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in CleanPowerSF as of July 31 (either on our Green or SuperGreen service)

  • Have service agreements on E-19, B-19, E-20, B-20, or B-EV-2 rate schedules

  • Not be a net-energy metered (NEM) or standby accounts

  • Are not enrolled in other demand response programs

financial incentives

We offer two financial incentives for Peak Day Partners: a standard incentive and a bonus incentive.  At the end of the PDP Season, CleanPowerSF will calculate whether your account’s electricity usage pattern resulted in an incentive and will post standard and bonus incentives to your account as a credit.

The standard incentive is $1.50/kWh for electric load reduction. In addition, if your account achieved a load reduction during more than 75% of the program’s Event Day hours, we will apply a bonus rate of $1.00/kWh, for a total of $2.50/kWh for your account for the season.

For more details on how we calculate incentives, please review our Terms and Conditions.

EVENT DAY NOTIFICATIONS

We will notify you via our website, email and/or text message the day before an Event Day so you can be prepared and take action. All Event Days will be announced by 5 p.m. the day before.

Event Days will occur on non-holiday weekdays when the day-ahead temperature is forecasted to be at or above 98 degrees Fahrenheit by the National Weather Service.

Please note we may also call voluntary Event Days through November 30, but participation in these events is optional and does not impact program incentives.
