An animated video with hand-drawn illustrations. An essay arguing for public transit that runs on renewable energy and is free for kids. These are just a few of the compelling stories that students shared as part of the 2026 Climate and Clean Energy High School Video and Writing Contest run by CleanPowerSF, a clean energy program of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.
Below, you’ll find all awardee submissions organized alphabetically by submission title.
About the Contest
The CleanPowerSF 2026 Climate and Clean Energy High School Video and Writing Contest was a collaboration between the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) and the San Francisco Kindergarten to College (K2C) program in celebration of the 10-year anniversary for CleanPowerSF.
All San Francisco Unified School 9th through 12th grade students were invited to participate in the contest by creating a video, a poem or a persuasive speech centered on the theme, “Powering San Francisco’s Future.” The SFPUC awarded 79 scholarships through the Kindergarten to College (K2C) program. Awardees were selected by a committee of SFPUC’s judges and received a $500 scholarship in their K2C accounts. After students graduate from high school, they can use these funds to pay for post-secondary education.
Thank you to all the students who have submitted their work! We deeply appreciate your commitment and support towards a clean energy future for San Francisco. View the scholarship awardee list here.
