Electrify Your Home
Get $50/month in bill credits when you switch to electric appliances.
As a CleanPowerSF customer, you already power your home with clean energy from renewable sources like wind and solar. Now you can make an even greater impact by replacing your gas appliances. CleanPowerSF offers a $50 monthly bill credit for every appliance you upgrade to electric. We’re here to support you, where it’s your first upgrade or you’re ready to remove your gas meter for good.
Why Upgrade to Electric?
Modernize Your Home
Today’s electric appliances aren’t just better for the planet, they’re better, period. Heat pumps and induction stoves not only outperform their gas counterparts, they surpass them in efficiency, reliability, and convenience.
Reduce Exposure to Pollution and Fire Risk
Gas-fired appliances can release harmful pollutants into your home. Gas is highly flammable, posing a health and safety hazard, especially in case of an earthquake or fire. Going electric eliminates these risks at the source.
For the Climate
Buildings are responsible for more than one-third of San Francisco’s greenhouse gas emissions. And gas appliances in homes are a big part of that. By switching to electric, you’re taking one of the most direct, meaningful actions any San Franciscan can to fight global warming. The impact starts the moment you make the switch.

Upgrade Your Appliance
Hot Water
Upgrade to a heat pump water heater and transform one of your home’s hardest-working systems into one of its smartest. Today’s models learn your household’s hot water patterns and shift energy use to off-peak hours. This helps you avoid peak electricity rates without added effort. Heat pump water heaters use up to seven times less energy than conventional gas units. Not only does it pay for itself over time, but you can also get money back when you upgrade.

Load shifting & bill savings: Heat water during off-peak hours and sidestep peak electricity rates.
Use less energy: High-efficiency heat pump water heaters can use up to seven times less energy than a conventional gas unit.
Health & safety: Gas water heaters are a leading source of residential fires. And they introduce combustion byproducts into your home’s air. Removing that gas connection eliminates both risks. It also reduces seismic vulnerability, a meaningful consideration in earthquake country.
Lower emissions: Running on electricity means you can power your hot water with clean, renewable energy.
How credits work: Receive $50 per month for 24 months ($1,200 total).
Clean Heating
A gas furnace only ever solved half of your comfort needs. But a heat pump can keep you comfortable year-round. Heat pumps provide efficient heating and cooling, all from one efficient system that outperforms gas. Upgrading to a heat pump cuts your home’s emissions. It eliminates health and safety risks from burning fuel, carbon monoxide exposure, and gas leaks. And for most San Francisco homes, it delivers something new: cooling right when our warming climate is making it necessary.
