Students are charging up their creativity to participate in the first ever CleanPowerSF Climate and Clean Energy High School Video and Writing Contest. CleanPowerSF is celebrating 10 years of providing clean energy to San Francisco, and as part of the anniversary, the team is inviting young creators to share their vision for a brighter future.

Current 9th to 12th grade students in San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) and SFUSD-affiliated charter schools will have the chance to interpret and convey the theme “Powering San Francisco’s Future” in a short-form video, a poem or a persuasive speech. They are encouraged to explore how clean energy, through programs like CleanPowerSF, can help San Francisco combat climate change.

The contest launches on March 24, and submissions are accepted in English, Arabic, Chinese, Filipino, Russian, Spanish, Samoan, and Vietnamese. The deadline to enter is April 21, 2026. The SFPUC will select up to 80 citywide honorees and award scholarships of $500 each.

Help us spread the word to the students in your communities! For more details on the contest and submission guidelines, check out the contest website and stay tuned for highlights and standout entries from the contest.
