Benefits of CleanPowerSF
Community Investment
Our goal is to invest ratepayer funds back into San Francisco by providing stable rates, supporting the development of new renewable energy projects, creating jobs, and helping consumers manage their energy use and cost.
Stable and Competitive Rates
Our goal is to set rates once for the entire year through a public process, providing customers more rate and cost stability. Members of the public are welcome to comment at the publicly noticed hearings of boards and committee meetings. If you would like more information on how to participate, click here.
New Clean Energy Projects
CleanPowerSF is committed to building new clean energy projects right here in California and within our local communities.
Projects In Development
-
Energy Type: Solar plus battery storage
Location: Alameda County, CAThe Aramis Solar Plus Storage project will provide 75 MW of solar energy and 75 MW of battery storage capacity to CleanPowerSF customers. Once complete, this project will also provide clean and reliable power to the Bay Area. The project is expected to generate over 400 all-union construction jobs between IP Aramis, LLC and five local construction crafts representing over 10,000 members living in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

Location: Rosamond, CA (Kern County, CA)The Tumbleweed project is located near Rosamond in Kern County, California. It is a 75 MW battery storage project that will provide about 12 MW of energy storage capacity. This project, with the Goal Line project, will provide enough energy storage to power 35,000 average San Francisco homes for up to 8 hours.
-
Energy Type: Battery storage
Location: Escondido, CA (San Diego County, CA)The Goal Line project is located near Escondido in San Diego County, California. Why electrify?
Health: Natural gas appliances can release harmful pollutants into your home. These pollutants can be toxic to people and pets.
Safety: Natural gas can easily catch fire. The gas lines in your home could be unsafe if there is an earthquake or fire.
Climate: Gas use in buildings makes up more than one-third of San Francisco’s greenhouse gas emissions. Greenhouse gas emissions are what cause global climate change.
Performance: Electric heating, water heaters, and cooking solutions have come a long way. They now offer outstanding performance, reliability, and low operating costs.
